RTI activism UP : Primary Health perils loom large for Rural UP with only 1 PHC for 28 villages’ avg. 44597 population!

With  population of  over  200,581,477, Uttar Pradesh has the distinction of No. 1 overall population rank out of 28 states in India. As per Census 2011,total No of Villages in this most populous state of India is 97814.

Out of total population of 200,581,477, 22.27% ( 44,669,495) people live in urban regions and around 77.73 % ( 155,911,982 ) live in the villages of rural areas.

In rural regions of state, female sex ratio per 1000 males is 918 which means there are 81,288,833 males and 74,623,149 females in rural UP.

Child population forms 16.12% ( 25,133,011 ) of total rural population. Female sex ratio for rural child (0-6 age) is 906 girls per 1000 boys which means there are 13,186,260 male-children and 11,946,751 female children in rural UP.

India became independent in 1947 n we are in year 2015 which means nearly 68 years have elapsed but a RTI of mine has revealed that in these 68 years, despite larger than life claims of our governments on health front, they have not been able to provide one hospital to each village of this most populous state of India.

As per reply dated 29-04-2015, sent to me by Director ( PHS/CHC ) of UP, in these 68 years post independence, Rural UP could get 3496 PHCs ( Primary Health Centers ) & 773 CHCs  ( Community Health Centers ) only.

With total 97814 villages in UP this means there is 1 PHC per 28 villages & going by total rural population of 155,911,982 it comes to 1 PHC per 44597 rural population.

This is noteworthy that average population per village in UP is 1564 only.

Our Governments might be making tall claims on their concerns for rural women, rural children, rural  girl-child & their primary health issues but for me they are a mere eyewash because the reality is that there is only 1 PHC per  21345 rural women, per 7189 rural children and per 3417 rural girl child.

If people sitting in governments can't feel the perils experienced by 3417 rural girl child/7189 rural children /21345 rural women/44597 rural population of 28 villages rushing all the way to nearby PHC?

I sometimes wonder as to where is the money pumped by governments and international agencies for addressing healthcare issues of rural UP is going! I think its going to swiss bank type banks thru scams.

If governments passive approach in not increasing the number of PHCs is a conspiracy against rural UP to pump their hard earned money to mushrooming of blossoming costly private hospitals in everywhere in UP? To me the answer is yes. What's your take on this…….?
