Lucknow: Usually people take utmost care of paying the electricity bill prior to the due date but, if in case it remains due for couple of months or three, it by default turns a headache for very commoner as electricity department can scissor your line anytime soon. But the case is complete reverse for our politicians. Though, they are not exempted of paying the electricity bill but they are not even asked to pay it! It is exposed recently that a whopping Rs 1.5 crores of electricity bill is due on MP's and MLA's in the Uttar Pradesh state to which no action has been initiated yet.
Electricity department can cut the power supply, can issue notice or even can take legal action if a commoner fails to pay few thousands due on him in form of electricity bill. Not only an individual, the department is enough stringent against the educational and medical institutions like schools, colleges and hospitals. But the uneven gesture honored to these politicians, whose bill amount of Rs 1,49,38,588 is due, is something very much bizarre for everyone. The complete chapter shocks us more as the information has been revealed through the government's Right To Information (2005) act.
An RTI filed by social worker and engineer Sanjay Sharma reveals that electricity bill of MLA's living in houses constructed in 'Vidhayak Niwas-5', 'Buttler Palace' and 'Maal Avenue' is unpaid.
